And so we wait

August 9, 2011

Everything we can do is done so now we just get to wait.

Our friend the artisan started to investigate the house and do some prep work but that was put paid to by the estate agent so work stopped. He has now written to the agent asking for permission to carry out the prep work as some of it takes three weeks to dry and set and we need the new floors down before we move in. There is also significant electrical and plumbing work needed before the house can be occupied so we are hopeful permission will be granted for work to recommence soon.

Removal company has booked the container and the ship, expected arrival in France is October 1st so timing looks good. Managed to get all the bills paid in the US and the money out before Wall Street threw a s**t so dodged that bullet.

Pleasant interlude yesterday when friends from the ex-pat forum arrived and we met for lunch in Vannes. They are moving here next year some time and this was an exploratory trip.

So now we are taking a break and going to England for a couple of weeks, we’ll meet up with friends and family and generally enjoy a break from this tiny apartment.

Back in a week or so

Hi hope your permission is granted – we will go to Scotland once we have found a place (weather can’t be any worse than here in SW France). We are still looking at houses – frustrating experience as you know….
    Bon voyage

      Hi Jo,

Not sure about that weather 😉 Good luck with the house hunting, it really can get boring and especially now in August with everyone on vacation.

      Stay in touch
